When will the West truly decolonize its museums?
The repatriation of artefacts cannot stop with Iraq. In a landmark deal in summer 2021, the United States said it would repatriate more than 17,000 artefacts historically looted from Iraq. But while the world should celebrate this breakthrough, many argue the deal is not enough. Ahmed Twajj explains why the international community must pressure museums to assess how their items were acquired to address wrongs from past centuries and return their ransacked relics.
