The ‘offshore processing centre’ I live in is an island prison

Behrouz Boochani left Manus Island after six years in November 2019. Each year the Australian government sends scores of refugees and asylum seekers to an offshore processing centre on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea. Behrouz Boochani is an Iranian journalist and one of the inhabitants of the island. He writes in the Financial Times in May 2018 to tell us that the term “offshore processing centre” is just a mask for an island prison.
