Did Xi just save the world?
China might have permanently changed the global fight against climate change. In a little-noticed speech in September's United Nations General Assembly, Xi Jinping vowed to make the Asian superpower adopt stricter measures in the fight against carbon emissions, going as far as to say he expects the country to be carbon neutral by 2060. With the US pulling back from the Paris Agreement, Adam Tooze wonders in Foreign Policy if China will become the surprising new world leader in climate change matters.
