Treat social media like email and search engines
Facebook and Twitter offer far less value to our everyday lives than do email providers or search engines, yet they appear to have so much more power over us. Why is that? Tim Harford, writing in the Financial Times in April 2018, argues that being able to move our profiles from one social media platform to another, much like switching phone provider, could go a long way to solving some of our worries about digital privacy.
