More companies are reaching consumers with messaging apps. Conversational commerce, or “C-commerce”, is already widely used in Asia and Latin America, where patchy smartphone and internet access keeps e-commerce and company apps out of reach. The Economist explores how the Western world is catching on as consumers are beginning to appreciate the convenient nature of messaging, and many firms are discovering that return on investment is higher than other platforms of communication.
