George Washington's "Yelp reviews"
On his way from Virginia to New York to take up the presidency, George Washington decided to immerse himself in the communities he would soon govern. But some of the inns and public houses he stayed in were less than impressive. His handwritten reviews still exist, and Rachel Bernstein, writing in JSTOR Daily, shares what is effectively the founding father’s eighteenth-century Yelp account.
