What happens when you cannot naturally conceive? Most people think of having children in binary terms: to want them or not. And it's true that for many women — ambitious, progressive, and independent — motherhood is a matter of choice. However, as Edna Bonhomme discovered, it's not always so simple. The process of IVF is brutal, physically, emotional and (in some parts of the world) financially taxing. It's also often unsuccessful. It's no surprise, then, how hard it is to manifest the strength to continue when life keeps throwing obstacles at your fertility dreams. However, in this deeply personal story, Bonhomme explains her struggles and triumphs on her journey to motherhood and how — even though life didn't turn out as she planned — she came to appreciate other sources of joy.
