Second person cleared of HIV remains free of virus one year on
Good news: researchers reveal the patient is still in remission 12 months after ‘cure’ declared. Known until now as the "London patient", Adam Castejillo was declared free of HIV in 2019 — 18 months after stopping antiretroviral therapy following a stem cell, or bone marrow, transplant to treat a type of blood cancer.
