Letter from Sweden: ‘We are heading into the storm’

It's one of the few countries not to go into lockdown in response to the coronavirus. But why? Historian Peter Englund, writes a personal letter in the Financial Times from his home in the university town north of Stockholm, Uppsala. In it, he explores why the Nordic country has decided to step away from the preventive measures against coronavirus taken by its European counterparts, and how its citizens are responding to it.
