Are gifts and bribes irresistible, even when we think we're unaffected? Many people believe behaving professionally and ethically is a part of the workplace identity. However, this isn't necessarily true. A 2022 study has identified a "professionalism paradox" similar to the Dunning-Kruger effect in that (no matter how good our intentions) the greater a manager's sense of professionalism, the more likely they are to accept a gift or a bribe.
