Exploring the new Curio

Need help getting to know the new Curio? Here's some top tips to get you started...

Understanding search

The new Curio puts you in control of the news you want to consume. One of the ways you can tailor your experience is with our chat and search menu.

Use Curio's chat

At the bottom of your screen is a chat box where you can simply ask for the news you need to know.

Whether it's the "climate crisis" or "will the Fed cut interest rates?" Curio will present the most relevant articles to your query.

Use Curio's search menu

If you're stuck on what to search for why not try out one of Curio's own suggestions in the search menu?

1. Slide your finger up from the chat box at the bottom of the screen to open the search menu.

2. Scroll through the suggestions and click on your desired search item which will automatically be entered into the chat.

3. Read or listen to the articles from Curio's response.

Looking for something specific?

If you know the title, author, or publisher of an article, you can use Curio's chat feature to find it. Simply ask for articles by a specific journalist or publisher. You can also find a specific article from one of our partner publications by typing "Title:" + the name of the article you are looking for.

Discover curated and archive content

Try out Editors' Picks

Prefer articles curated by our editorial team? In the search menu, click on "Editors' Picks" to find the best of journalism from our partners, hand-picked by our editors. Alternatively, just ask directly in the chat.

Locate your Curio library

Missing your old library? In the search menu, click on "Show me my Curio library" to access the articles in your bookmarks and queue. Alternatively, just ask directly in the chat.

Explore the Curio archive

To find Curio's human-narrated articles click on the "Best of Curio" in the search menu. Curio will then present you with a selection of the best articles from Curio's archive. Alternatively, just ask directly in the chat.

Find the most recent news

One of the benefits of the new Curio is unlimited access to the top stories of the day and the most recently published articles.

Try the headlines

1. Click on the "Headlines" in the search menu or just ask for the headlines in the chat.

2. Click on "Expand" to open headlines in full and swipe through each headline panel to access the relevant articles on each breaking news item, just click on the ones that interest you.

Ask for the latest content

To access the most recent articles on any given topic, just ask Curio for the "Latest on..." to retrieve newly published content on your desired news topic.

  • For example: asking for the "Latest on the U.S. election" will give you the most recently published articles from our partners on the United States' presidential election.

Create a custom audio episode

We’re still very passionate about audio and our custom episode feature lets you create personalised audio on any topic you choose.

An episode will combine relevant articles to your search request with the new addition of Curio's commentary.

Different ways to generate an episode

1. Create from an original search request:

If you want to create an audio episode based on something you've searched for, all you need to do is click the "Create audio episode" button that appears after the search results are shown in the chat. Once selected, Curio will create a personalised audio episode based on the original information you searched for.

2. Create a new episode from scratch:

If you want to make an audio episode on a new topic, you can either type "Create audio episode on [desired topic]" directly into the chat box, or you can save time by clicking "Create an audio episode on..." in the search menu. This option will pop up in the chat box, and you can then just type in the topic you want.
